Japanese Tokyo Electric Power Co began testing 240 meter-long 66 kV HTS cable "three-in-one" at Asahi substation (Yokohama). For the HTS cable production the DI-BSCCO wires produced by Sumitomo Electric Industries., Ltd was used. 22/10/2012, we reported on the deliveries of such wires for Russian cable project in St. Petersburg. Liquid nitrogen cooling system has been developed by Mayekawa MFG. Co., Ltd.
The goal of began in 2007 under the auspices of NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) and funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry project – the demonstration (in 2013) of 300 MVA HTS cable reliability in Japanese grid.
The tests at 70 K during last two days show a stable current-carrying capacity of HTS cable at a level higher than 400 A.
