Within the framework of the Russian Energy Week, a meeting was held between representatives of PJSC ROSSETI and Chubu University. Representatives of both sides discussed the progress in implementing joint initiatives by Russian power engineers and Japanese scientists.The parties conduct scientific consultations and exchange of experience on the creation of electric power transmission based on high-temperature superconductivity.
“Together with the Japanese scientists, ROSSETI will introduce advanced technologies for the power supply of megalopolises in order to increase the efficiency of the power grid complex,” notes Pavel Livinsky, Director General of PJSC Rosseti.
The next step in the development of cooperation was the approval of a program of joint research to develop the design of a superconducting cable for the power supply of megacities.
SuperOx Company, the first Russian manufacturer of a high-temperature superconductors took part in the meeting. The company expressed its willingness to ensure the supply of a key structural element for HTS cables. Also, during the meeting, a promising technology of HTS fault current limiting devices was discussed. This technology will significantly improve the level of energy efficiency and energy security of megacities.
